I am looking at a Kubota L2500DT 4WD to be used farming 10-15 acres of grapes on hilly terrain. I will mow the middles, spray, and use the tractor for putting in fence posts. I got a price of $11,900.00 plus tax for a rental return with about 40 hours on the meter. This price was at a dealer in Santa Maria, California. How reliable of a tractor is this and will it have a fair resale value? Is this tractor stable on hilly terrain?ThanksSteve

The L2500 is the old rough around the edges "price Leader " for Kubota. It is a design that is about tem years old. One of the things you may miss is the fact that the L2500 does not have a Live PTO, although it does come with a PTO overrunning clutch. The L2500 is problably the only Kubota I see buyers selling out of quickly after purchasing, go figure!The L2500 4wd new goes for about $11250 brand new and naked. Check prices at http://www.carverequipment.com/. I also got a Price at Rhinehart Equipment in GA for $10700.The new L3010 goes for about 13,300 new 4wd with Live PTO, if you got the cash you can't go wrong, or look at the great Boomer TC29 or Deere 4200 - 4300Dennis ....

My L2500DT is almost a year old and 80 hrs. No problems to date. Its a great tractor for the price but does lack some of the "creature comforts" of the newer designs. Here in the south I would think $11,900 is a little high for a rental return w/ 40 hrs. What does he want for a new one for a reference point? I lucky enough to have a GREAT dealer (in price AND service) only a short drive away (carver equipment). Jeff in NC ....
